Wedding Chest

Inspired by Scandinavian wedding and hope chests from the turn of the century, largely informed by my own heritage and passion for heritage crafts, I painted this cedar chest to serve as a card holder for my wedding. I painted the location and night sky (with moon phase and constellations informed by the true night sky over our wedding celebrations) on the inside of the box lid and painted several blossoms around our initials that reflect our upbringing and heritage: birth flowers, state flowers from where we were born, flowers from our grandparents' heritages.
